Bozeman Unit 2 Acoustic Structure Overview
Reflection
·The recent more dominant paradigm for voice pedagogy is the non-linear source-filter theory combined with the physiologic model, the myoelastic aerodynamic (MEAD) theory of vocal fold oscillation.
There are two historic overarching model parameters: one prioritizing the frequency domain (FFT) and the other the time domain (the transient theory). Both are useful. This portion of the course will focus on the frequency domain. (Ian Howell will highlight the time domain.)
How do you model voice production conceptually? Do you use the frequency domain or the time domain?
